Encrypted Email Compliance Archive
Designed to run on load balanced and resilient Microsoft Windows server infrastructure either in your organisational data centre or on cloud infrastructure-as-a-service platform of your choice (private hosted or public cloud), Absio Archiver helps organisations meet the demands of compliance and archiving in a secured, encrypted messaging environment through the encrypted email compliance archive
Message and File Archiving
Archiver users are given private keys and read permission for all members of the business group automatically, enabling the Archiver application to download and store all inbound and outbound messages and file attachments for the group, regardless of controls set by senders and recipients. Archiver users can view, print, export and delete group user messages from the Archiver application. They cannot forward or reply to group user messages.
Archiver users authenticate with the Absio Server in the same way any other user does by signing the server timestamp with a private key. In addition, the Archiver client checks to ensure that the user has the archiver role before allowing access to group user content. Once the Archiver client is authenticated, it has access to a special set of server endpoints for pulling group member events and ASCs from Absio Server.
Granular Message and File Encryption
Absio Secured Containers (ASCs) are used to encapsulate the information payload (messages or file attachments), controls for access and use of the information, and any additional metadata in an individually-encrypted object. The Absio client-generated information is always and only stored and transmitted in ASCs. Encryption in motion and at rest is automatic, and persists from endpoint through endpoint.
To create an ASC, Dispatch:
- Generates an AES256 key and a HMAC-SHA256 key to provide confidentiality and authentication.
- Serializes the header (controls and key-value metadata) as JSON.
- Encrypts the header with the AES256 key.
- Produces a HMAC digest with the HMAC key from the encrypted header.
- Encrypts the content payload with the AES256 key.
- Appends the encrypted header, header digest, encrypted content, and content digest.
- Stores the assembled ASC in a local, obfuscated file system, and pushes it to the Absio Server
